      Saputo Stadium expansion announced

      Mar. 9, 2011

The folks from the Montreal Impact unveiled details for the expansion of the Saputo Stadium today.

When Montreal’s soccer team officially joins Major League Soccer (MLS) in 2012, the Saputo Stadium will be bigger than ever. The changes: an increase from 13,034 to 20,341 seats; a roof over the upper rows of each grandstand, for a total of 6,948 covered seats; 40 corporate boxes; 100 concession stands; and three entrances to the stadium, including a new one from Viau Street.

During today’s press conference, the Impact also announced that season tickets for 2012 will range from $250 to $1250, compared to $160 to $1400 for the 2011 season.

The expansion project will begin in May of 2011, with the bulk of the work being completed after the end of the season in the Fall. The stadium will be completed in March 2012.
