      Arte Montreal at Casa D’Italia

      The Association of Italian Canadian Writers (AICW) is hosting a multidisciplinary event celebrating art in all its forms this coming Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Casa D’Italia in Montreal. Arte Montreal will feature an art exhibit, readings, live music, and a documentary film screening.

      “There is a lot of hidden talent within our community,” explains Licia Canton, president of the AICW.

      “With new initiatives such as Arte Montreal, the AICW hopes to provide venues for creative individuals. Our goal is to build bridges and to work together on new ventures, not only between writers and artists, but also with other Italian Canadian organizations,” she continues.

      The evening will feature:
      A film screening of the documentary film, Mal’occhio [the evil eye];
      Readings (poetry, prose & theatre) by Tina Biello, Michaela Di Cesare, Emilio Francescucci, D.C. Iannuzzi, and Luigi Monteferrante;
      An art exhibit with paintings by Faustina Angiolina Bilotta, Frank Caracciolo, Adriana Coluccio, Loreta Giannetti, Ida Marinaro Fanzolato, Nadia Mytnik, and Fidel Ponce Ccana;
      Accenti’s “Capture an Italian Moment” Winning Photos;
      And a live performance by Montreal band SuperNova & The Big Red Giants.

      Arte Montreal takes place on Thursday, May 12, 2011, from 6:30PM to 10:00PM, at the Casa D’Italia, located at 505 Jean Talon Est, in Montreal. Admission is free and open to the general public.
