Montreal’s Italian Week is taking over St Leonard today. On the agenda is entertainment, bocce and a literary conference.

A three-day bocce tournament – which started last night – continues tonight (August 16) and tomorrow (August 17) from 7:00PM onwards, at Delorme Park. It’s a fierce competition amongst bocce enthusiasts and old friends.

On a more academic front, the festival will be hosting an Italian-language conference titled, “Fontana di aga dal me pais,” tonight at 7:30PM
in the Leonardo Da Vinci Center’s Piccolo Theatre. Presented by the Quebec Association of Professors of Italian, the conference will analyze a P.P. Pasolini poem to illustrate the political history of the Italian province of Friuli and the evolution of its poetry in dialect.

The festival’s entertainment will take center stage at Wilfrid Bastien Park in St Leonard. The show starts at 7:30PM with Regina folk group Le Campagnole. A local favorite, stand up comedian Joe Cacchione will then take the stage, followed by Italian folk group Danzerini di Lucinico. The evening will wrap up with performances by the sister singing duo Alessandra and Felicia Tropeano and by Montreal artist Sly Furino.

Montreal’s Italian Week heads to Little Italy tomorrow and continues until August 19. To view the full program please visit www.italianweek.ca.
