Montreal’s Italian Week: The Grand Finale

After nine days of activities and entertainment in different parts of the city, Montreal’s Italian Week is set for its grand finale today in Little Italy.

Things get underway at noon as dozens of kiosks open up for business. The kiosks along Boulevard St-Laurent feature community groups, cultural organizations, art and literary programs, product displays, entertainment and more.

The hottest kiosk at this year’s festival might just be Nonna Maria’s MutandiWOW stand. Not a surprise really if we consider her growing popularity on Facebook and YouTube. Nonna Maria will be at her kiosk from 4:00PM to 10:00PM today to present her latest invention.

At 2:00PM on the Shamrock Stage at the corner of Shamrock and St-Laurent a panel of celebrity judges – including Nonna Maria herself – will decide which Montreal bakery makes the best tiramisu. Audiences will have a chance to try samples.

The festival will end with a spectacular outdoor performance of Gaetano Donizetti’s opera, L’Elisir d’amore. The curtain rises at 9:00PM on the Loto-Québec stage at Boulevard St-Laurent and St-Zotique. Admission is free and all are welcome.
