      Italocanadese celebrates Shamrock en fête

      Sep. 14, 2012

Shamrock Street in Montreal’s Little Italy will turn into a giant car-free picnic area, well, just for one day. On Saturday, September 22, from 11:00AM to 3:00PM, the public is invited to pack a picnic basket and head over to Shamrock en fête for an afternoon of outdoor fun.

Shamrock en fête will feature a 4,000 square foot grass field, Italian food samplings, musical performances, family activities, and various kiosks. Some of the highlights include a photo exhibit of Little Italy from past to present, a presentation by glassmaker master Victor de Vourgie, and an art installation by the Art Public Movement. Local merchants will also offer free samplings to the public.

Be sure to visit the Italocanadese kiosk to take in a game of scopa and peruse the “italo” merchandise available for purchase.

Shamrock en fête is organized by the Société de développement commercial (SDC) Petite-Italie Marché Jean-Talon and Soder, Corporation de gestion des marchés publics de Montréal, in partnership with the AMT, the STM and the borough of Rosemont-La-Petite-Patrie, and with the financial support of the National Bank. Last year’s inaugural Shamrock en fête welcomed 3,000 visitors.
