Montreal’s Italian Week – Day Two

      Aug. 10, 2013

The weather is cooperating as Montreal’s Italian Week eases into its first weekend of activities.

Georges Saint Pierre Park in NDG will be home to festival activities today. On the agenda is a day-long soccer tournament and bocce tournament, activities for the kids, an exhibit of Fiat 500 cars, a community dinner from 5:00PM to 6:00PM, and performances by Dolceamare, comedian Joe Cacchione, and Manrico Tedeschi & Friends. The show starts at 6:00PM.

Festivities continue at Maria Auxiliatrice Church in Rivières-des-Prairies as parishioners celebrate the church’s annual summer festival. On the roster will be activities for the kids, music, the Banda Gentile marching band, and fireworks on Sunday evening.

The folks from Delverde are offering lessons on how to cook pasta to perfection. A concept that started in Milan, the Pasta Sommelier classes are in Montreal for the first time ever. Led by young Italian chefs, the one-hour lesson includes a pasta tasting and a cooking class. Classes will be offered until August 18 around the city. Registration is mandatory. Visit for a detailed schedule.

Federico Fellini films continue to screen at the Casa D’Italia in Little Italy and the Leonardo da Vinci Centre in St-Leonard. Screenings start at 7:30PM and admission is free. Film screenings include La Dolce Vita, Amarcord, La Strada, Le notti di Cabiria, I Vitelloni and more. A complete list of screenings is available at
