St Laurent Boulevard between St Zotique and Jean Talon Streets will be the epicenter of Montreal’s Italian Week starting today (August 16) at 4:00PM until Sunday, August 18.

Tonight, internationally renowned DJ and artist Misstress Barbara returns to her hood. The Misstress Barbara Band will take the main stage at the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and St-Zotique Street at 9:30PM. Opening for the band will be musical group VU.

Misstress Barbara was born in Italy and immigrated to Montreal with her family at a young age. She actually grew up in Montreal’s Little Italy and now performs around the globe. In 2009 she released her debut album as a singer, I’m No Human. The album included the hit single, I’m Running, which featured a duet with Sam Roberts. Her follow up album, Many Shades of Grey, was released last year.

Starting at 6:00PM on the Shamrock Stage, at the corner of Shamrock Street and St Laurent Boulevard, folk groups Gli Azzurri and Stelle Alpine will perform. Musical group Dolceamare will also be on the bill.

Italocanadese.com has partnered up with the Sons of Italy to host a Scopa Tournament during Montreal’s Italian Week. Today throughout Sunday, the Scopa tent will be stationed on St Laurent Boulevard just north of St-Zotique Street. Passersby will have the opportunity to enjoy a leisure game of Scopa.

Alongside the Scopa tent, dozens of other tents and kiosks will line up St Laurent Boulevard all weekend long. Community groups, organizations, businesses and restaurants will have a variety of activities and delights available for young and old.

Montreal’s Italian Week runs until August 18. A detailed schedule of activities is available at www.italianweek.ca.
