      In the Kitchen with Sandra: Lime-Lemonade

      We can all agree that summer is finally here! It took a while but we are finally enjoying the beautiful sun, lounging by the poolside, wearing flip-flops and shorts and our stylish name brand sunglasses! On days like these the only thing missing is a delicious thirst quencher. Here is a little spinoff of the classic lemonade.


      1 cup water
      2 cups sugar
      ¾ cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 10 limes)
      1 ½ cups freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 10 lemons)
      7 cups cold water
      2 cups ice cubes

      Begin by making a simple syrup using one cup of water and two cups of sugar. In a saucepan over high heat, boil the water and then add the sugar. Stir until all the sugar is dissolved. Put aside to cool.

      Once the simple syrup has cooled pour it into a large pitcher. Add the lime and lemon juices. Finally add the 7 cups of cold water. Just before serving add the ice cubes. Enjoy!

      A fun option, make the perfect complimentary ice cubes by slicing fresh limes and lemons and adding them to the ice cube tray before filling it with water and freezing.

      Also an option, add freshly sliced lemon and lime to the pitcher once you add the ice cubes.
