      Montreal’s Italian Week 2014 – Day Three

      Balbo's Heavens and SeasMontreal’s Italian Week festivities continue throughout the city on this lovely Sunday.

      Today is the last day to enjoy some live performances at Le Boulevard Shopping Centre, located at the corner of Jean Talon and Pie-IX streets. Performing today are Marco Sanelli and Dolceamare & Friends. The show starts at 1:00PM.

      Maria Auxiliatrice Church in Riviere-des-Prairies will also be wrapping up a weekend of activities today. All afternoon attendees can enjoy an array of outdoor activities and music. At 7:00PM the “Palo della Cucagna” competition will take place, followed by a performance by Xclusive Entertainment, and finally a fireworks display at 10:15PM.

      Two local seniors groups in LaSalle, the Falchi LaSalle and Margherite d’Oro, are hosting a day long Bocce tournament with music and refreshments at Ouellette Park.

      Starting today and running through August 24, the Casa d’Italia (505 Jean Talon Est) is showcasing the “Balbo’s Heavens and Seas” touring exhibit. The exhibit highlights the flight by Italo Balbo across the Atlantic Ocean – from Orbetello, Italy, to Chicago – in 1933. The show is built around a portfolio of 15 lithographs by Italian painter and illustrator, Nani Tedeschi. The exhibit is open Wednesdays to Sundays from 2:00PM to 7:00PM. Admission is free.

      A short documentary film on Italo Balbo will screening at 7:30PM at Casa d’Italia to mark the opening of the exhibit.

      Over at Theatro Piccolo at the Leonardo da Vinci Center, located at 8370 Boulevard Lacordaire in St-Leonard, tonight’s film screening will be Valerio Mieli’s Dieci Inverni. The screening starts at 7:30PM. Admission is free.
