Scopa at Montreal's Italian WeekEveryone’s favorite Italian card game returns to Montreal’s Italian Week!

Montreal’s Italian Week is set to hold its third annual Scopa tournament. For Italians and Italian-Canadians, Scopa was and is the card game to play at social gatherings. Scopa – which translates as “broom” – is an Italian card game that is played with a standard Italian 40-card deck. The game is played between two to five individual players, or between two teams of two.

Hosted by Italocanadese.com and the Order of the Sons of Italy in Canada, in collaboration with Montreal’s Italian Week, SCOPA @ SEMAINE ITALIENNE DE MONTRÉAL will see teams of two play in elimination rounds over a two-day period on August 15 and 16 in Montreal’s Little Italy until just one team is left – the Scopa champions of 2015.

      *Registration is now closed.

Teams will be contacted one week prior to the tournament with schedule details. All participants must be able to play on Saturday, August 15 between 2:00PM to 6:00PM, and should they qualify, the following day on Sunday, August 16 between 2:00PM to 6:00PM. The team that wins two matches out of three will qualify for the next round.

Be sure to visit the Scopa Tent on St-Laurent Boulevard, between St-Zotique and Dante streets during the Montreal’s Italian Week festivities. Even if you are not playing in the tournament, you can still enjoy a friendly hand of Scopa with friends or other festivalgoers.
