Just one day left before Montreal’s Italian Week settles in for a final weekend of festivities in Little Italy.
Tonight, St-Leonard is the place to be for live entertainment. The big stage at Wilfrid-Bastien Park (at the corner of Blvd Lacordaire and Blvd Robert) will feature performances by the Appennini Dancers from Alberta, Superfantastico, comedian Joe Cacchione, and singer Vincenzo Thoma. The performances get underway at 7:30PM. A fleet of Fiat 500 cars will also be on display.
Across the street at the Leonardo da Vinci Centre (8370 boul. Lacordaire), an Italian-language conference on “Art, Mistères et Secrets de la Court d’Urbino” by McGill Professor Matteo Soranzo will start at 7:30PM. Admission is free.
Be sure to also check out the solo exhibit by Italian artist Elvino Echioni in the Leonardo da Vinci Centre’s exhibition space.
If films are your thing, then you are luck. The Casa d’Italia (505 Rue Jean Talon est) is showing Pietro Germi’s Alfredo, Alfredo at 7:30PM. The McCord Museum is showing Leopardi, Il giovane favoloso by Mario Martone at 7:00PM. Both screenings are free.
Montreal’s Italian Week runs until Sunday, August 14, 2016. For a full program listing, please visit www.italianweek.ca.
